#8SUNDAY Weekend Writing Warriors

Hi friends, welcome back to my page.  I hope everyone enjoyed their Halloween!

This week I’m sharing a little more from the Christmas story (I know, it’s coming right up, isn’t it?)  and guess what?  It’s coming out really soon, so you’re all going to have to read it!  😉  Shhh!  Just between us, I hear there is going to be a big sale that you’re going to have to look out for.  Like my Author page on Facebook if you haven’t already for all of my latest updates.  😉  😉

And now it’s time for WEEKEND WRITING WARRIORS!  (I wish I could make that just blink or something to show just how exciting it is to me.)

Wondering who we are?  We are a fabulous group of individuals that posts 8-10 sentences on their blogs from a published or unpublished book. Then we “hop” around and leave comments on each other’s snippets.  We welcome EVERYONE’s comments.~

“Let Tatiana know how much I love her when you get there.  Make sure it’s the first thing you do.  Please.  Tell her daddy loves her and is thinking of her too.”

I rolled my eyes.

“Mommy, you said Tatiana is going to be okay.”  I said.  “Why don’t you just call her and tell her yourself?”

“Because I want you to do it Mija.”  My mother replied.

Something seems to be going on under the surface of this conversation. Why, indeed, doesn’t mother tell Tatiana in person?

Love the “Mija” slang for “mi hija.” I just finished a YA novel where one of the characters used that in her dialogue. Great snippet!

Healing old wounds perhaps, if I remember from a previous snippet there was a resentment between them as children (?), so maybe mom feels the words of endearment coming from the sister will mean more and give more reason to heal? Or maybe if the sister doesn’t make it then it will help her since she had the moment of affection (?) I’ll be looking forward to reading more.

  9. The snippet has a very “family feeling” in the dialog and of course I too am curious why the mother wants her to carry the message. Excellent excerpt!
